In Their Own Words
Tan Cheng Huat

"I came to the workshop not expecting too much — I thought it would just be basic sorting advice. But the folder system they teach is quite thorough, and the way it's explained makes sense for real documents people actually have. I went home and applied it that same weekend. The workbook helped."

"I had been putting off sorting my EPF statements and property documents for years. The companion session was genuinely useful — Rajendran was patient and did not rush through anything. By the end I had a clearer sense of what I actually hold and what might be missing. The written summary they sent after was a nice touch."

"The long-form programme was the right choice for me. I had a lot of paper going back twenty-plus years and no filing method to speak of. We went through it all in stages, which made it manageable. The binder at the end is actually something I use — it sits on the desk and the whole family knows where to find things now."

"I want to be clear that Vestara does not give financial advice — and they were very straightforward about that from the start. What they do is help you organise your existing records, which was exactly what I needed. The naming convention alone saved me probably two hours the next time I needed to find something."

"My wife and I attended together. The session was calm, not overwhelming. I appreciated that they use the same system regardless of whether you're attending a workshop or the long programme — so if we decide to do the full binder later, it builds on what we already learned. Small but thoughtful detail."

"The companion session was more thorough than I expected for a single afternoon. I came with a carrier bag of loose documents and left with them sorted into labelled folders and a clear note of what categories I still need to build out. The only thing I'd add is a short follow-up session option, but perhaps the long programme covers that."

Case Studies
Participant Journeys
Case Study — Long-Form Programme
The Situation
A retired civil servant with over 30 years of accumulated documents — KWSP statements, LHDN correspondence, property papers, insurance folders, bank statements, and family certificates — had no consistent filing method. Finding any document took significant effort.
The Approach
Six sessions across eight weeks. The first session established a document inventory. Sessions two through five built folders category by category. The final session completed the binder, produced family reference handouts, and worked through the digital scanning checklist.
The Outcome
At programme end, 9 main categories and 34 sub-folders were organised and indexed. The completed binder was handed to the participant's adult daughter, who noted she could locate any document within a minute. A digital scan folder was set up on the household computer using the checklist naming convention.
"I had a vague feeling for years that I should sort these papers. After the first session I realised it was actually quite manageable if you have a system. By the end it felt like a different household."

Case Study — Companion Session
The Situation
A secondary school teacher two years from retirement had a mixed set of documents: some well-kept, others scattered across envelopes in different rooms. She wanted a single-session approach to understand what she had before deciding on next steps.
The Approach
A companion session lasting approximately two and a half hours. The facilitator reviewed documents together with the participant, applied the Vestara folder categories, and produced a session summary noting which categories were complete, which were partial, and which were absent.
The Outcome
At the end of the session, existing documents were sorted into labelled folders. The session summary gave a clear picture of what records she still needed to locate at home. The participant noted she had not realised how close to complete her records actually were — most gaps were straightforward to fill.
"The summary they sent me afterwards was the most useful part. It listed what I have and what I should try to find. I know exactly what to do next now."
